About This Message
Empowered (Re-Defining Power and Authority) Part 1 is the opening message of a teaching series by Apostle Joshua Selman in the School of Power, on the fundamentals of spiritual power.
Apostle Selman begins by preparing the heart to receive. Using the parable of the sower and Hebrews 4:1–2, he shows that results depend on how you hear, how you receive, and how persistently you engage what you hear. He then turns to the subject of power. Power is behind every extraordinary result, he says, so the real question is its source, and he draws on Acts 16 to show that not all supernatural power comes from God. He points to Scripture to show that empowerment is central to the believer’s life, from John 1:12 and Acts 1:8 to Acts 10:38.
The message goes on to lay foundations for redefining power: a theology of power, the will of God and the jurisdiction of power, and the authority of Jesus as a man. It sets out four dimensions of the believer’s power: the power to create, power over Satan and unclean spirits, power to change negative circumstances, and the power to minister life. It closes with the assignment of power, an altar call, a prayer of salvation, and a confession.
