About This Message
The Mercy of God is a message by Apostle Joshua Selman on mercy as God’s system of divine advantage: the reason ordinary people accomplish extraordinary purposes.
Built on the anchor text of Deuteronomy 4:31, “For the LORD thy God is a merciful God,” Apostle Selman teaches that mercy cannot be understood without first understanding who God is and who man is. He lays out four foundational layers for understanding mercy, then explores the contrast between God’s nature and man’s fallen nature, using David as a picture of human frailty.
From there, the message turns to how God administers mercy and the posture needed to receive it: brokenness, humility, and dependence on Him. The prodigal son is presented as the greatest picture of mercy, and Nebuchadnezzar, who “learned through pain” (Daniel 4:34–37), as a warning about pride. Apostle Selman then shows two blessings that flow from mercy, healing and provision, and shares a testimony of mercy changing an impossible situation. The message closes with a prayer for mercy, a time of prophetic healing and deliverance, and a closing prayer.
