The Second Coming of Christ is a classic sermon by Billy Graham, preached at the Knickerbocker Arena Crusade in Albany, New York, on the day of Christ’s return and the hope that changes how we live today.
Graham begins with 2 Peter 3 and asks a simple question: what did you expect when you woke up this morning? He then turns to the one day the Bible says is fixed on God’s calendar, and he describes it as three things. It is a day of revelation, when the hidden Christ is unveiled and every eye will see Him. It is a day of condemnation, when God’s justice meets those who do not know Him. And it is a day of salvation and glorification, when Christ is revealed in beauty and glory through His people.
The message also teaches that the day and hour of His return are a secret God has told no one. It goes through the signs Jesus gave: wars and rumours of wars, false Christs, a world overcharged with the cares of life, famines, rising iniquity, and earthquakes. Graham closes by asking how we should live in light of His return, and with an invitation to be ready.
About the Preacher
William “Billy” F. Graham Jr. (1918–2018) was one of the most widely known evangelists in history. He founded the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association in 1950 and, over the decades, preached live to nearly 215 million people in over 185 countries and territories.
He hosted the Hour of Decision radio program for more than 60 years and authored 33 books, including his 1997 autobiography, Just As I Am. His life’s work centred on one message: that God loves you and offers forgiveness and new life through Jesus Christ.
